Last time I checked, sony entertainment had released their blockbuster hit God of War for the PSP. The game was a big hit, well known for its incredible story-arc and for its finely defined characters. The game was received with aplomb amongst gamers and I, for one really enjoyed the gaming experience. The weapons were awesome, the tricks were brilliantly designed, full with real time action, there were stunning visual effects and the boss fights were really out of this world. I am very pleased that God of War: Ghost of Sparta has been released. The God of War franchise is huge. The story arcs are very complex and the gameplay is really intriguing. Sony has done really well – it brought out a host of God of War games for its various consoles and saw to it that the games were a big hit. Sony now has released the second edition of this game for the PSP. I am really enthralled to present to you this exclusive game review – Sony’s latest work of genius.

The user reprises the role of Kratos in this edition of the game as well. If you have played the earlier version, you would be familiar with the weapons that he possessed. The player once again gets to wield those weapons. The game features many quick-time events, has boss fights and puzzles just like the last edition and the game play is similar. However, there are some really cool weapons added, Kratos can gain additional magic powers and can acquire new navigational abilities – something that was absent in the previous game. The player came make use of the “Blades of Athena” and the “Arms of Sparta” which forms an essential part of Kratos’s arsenal. Apart from this, as the game progresses, Kratos can gain the “Rage” ability. With this ability, he can set the blades of Athena on fire and his strikes cause greater damage to the enemy. The combat system has seen some tweaks. New moves allow Kratos to pound his enemies, pinning them to the ground. He also has the ability to throw them in the air as well. The new combat system has been upgraded – air-to-air attacks can be made, with rapid, incredible stunt moves and fast paced attacks. Game dynamics has been improved. A new augmented death system has been introduced. As with the previous game, kratos can make use of magic as well. New abilities include the “Eye of Atlantis”, “Scourge of Erinys”, and the “Horn of Boreas”.

Orbs of health, magic and experience points are scattered throughout the entire map, allowing players to replenish health, magic and gain more experience to unlock new abilities and gameplay modes. A challenge mode allows players to gain more powers by completing challenges presented before them. The five challenges of Ares and the eight challenges of Athena can be unlocked once the user completes certain aspects of the game. Another feature new to this game is the Temple of Zeus – a place where players can visit to sacrifice their experience points to unlock new gameplay modes. A combat arena is also available in the game, where a player could choose an adversary and fight against him. Overall, the gaming experience is incredible, much like its famed predecessor.

The game is set in between the events of the first God of War game(Playstation version) and the second one. The game is therefore an interquel and delves deeper into the life of the protagonist, Kratos. The plot is dominated by the events related to the oracle’s prophecy, with Kratos trying to find out more about his own self and his dreaded past. After Kratos ascends to Olympus as the God Of War, he is increasingly plagued by visions of his past, the past in which he was still a mortal. In order to unravel the mysteries behind these visions, he sets off to the Temple of Poseidon in Atlantis. He eventually comes to meet his ailing mother Callisto and finds out that he has a brother, Deimos. He learns that he was captured by Thanatos (the God of Death) when he was a child, and that Deimos has since been tortured at a place called Death’s Domain. The game follows Kratos’s efforts to free Deimos from the clutches of Thanatos. The game ends with the events prior to God of War II, where Kratos would eventually defy the strength of the Gods and obliterate Olympus, thereby completing the Prophecy of the soothsaying oracle. The game is wonderful with powerful characters, amazing gameplay and intriguing puzzles. The NPC’s in the game also add a lot to the story arc and give credibility to the game. The game is surely bound to be as big as its counterparts in the franchise, certainly one to buy and play.

I am a big fan of turn-based strategy games. If you are like a die hard RPG gamer like me, then you would enjoy this one review about the most intriguing RPG ever made, with its trademark humor, brilliant plot and wonderfully endearing characters. The game i am referring to here is the famed Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger Vs Darkdeath Evilman. This game is brought to you by the creators of the very popular game series “Disgaea”. This debuted in Japan in 2003. Nippon Ichi software is well known for its RPG games, which leave you under its spell. The game can keep you under its hook, with its magnificent plots and wonderful visual effects. Plus with a large amount of custom content and wonderful dialogues, you’ve got a hit. I am pretty sure that you will stay glued to your PSP, playing this game with vigor and zeal, like me.

The game, Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger Vs Darkdeath Evilman is very unique. NIS is known for its humor, and this clearly shows in all aspects of game-play. The story is based upon a very simple theme – build your “character” and destroy the antagonist. To add a little spice to it, a story-arc is presented to the player. You start off as an unknown citizen in the fictitious world, a person without any credence, but as fortune would have it, you have been entrusted with the transformation belt by the protagonist, Pirohiko Ichimonji. The Unlosing ranger is on his way to fight the Darkdeath Evilman Tanaka. As fate would have it, the unlosing ranger loses his fight with the darkdeath evilman and is killed in battle. You, then become the Unlosing Ranger and you are now entrusted with the job of saving the entire planet from impending doom.

Set in two parallel universes, the Earth and Bizarro Earth, the game has a very unique style. Bizarro Earth bears an uncanny resemblance to our planet. The epic battle between you, the hero of the game and the DarkDeath Evilman takes place on Earth, but you get to build up your character, strengths, power ups and health in Bizarro Earth and not on Earth. There is a catch however, whenever you battle DarkDeath, the events which ensue, will happen on Bizarro Earth as well. The fight might be tough, but when the going gets tough the tough get going. Fortune favors the bold they say, and there are non playable characters who help you along the way. Etranger, Dangerama and Noa along with the ghost of the original unlosing Ranger(who gives advices you on several occasions throughout the game as you embark on your quest) are all there to help you defeat Darkdeath Evilman. When you encounter DarkDeath for the first time, all the hopes of vanquishing him in this fight have to be thrown into the dumpster, because your character is still not strong and your defeat is imminent. Building your character is fun. You can literally build everything from scratch and then use the character you’ve created to fight and eventually defeat the enemy. Customizing your character, literally “building” it from scratch, makes the game fun to play. You can attach anything from a driller arm, or tank leg or a cannon enhancement, replacing your otherwise visceral organs. The game-play is wonderful; the dungeons and the traps contained in them are totally randomized, so you encounter a different environment altogether when you play the game again. The game also has a fancy fog of war, revealing enemies only when you explore the map. Additionally, to restrict free roaming, you are burdened with hunger – there is a hunger meter which makes it harder to move about freely. Energy points (EN) are spent whilst you travel, making it even more realistic. You can build you own base to start with and slowly expand your horizons as you progress further within the game. You start the game with a blacksmith, a general store and of course, your very own residence (fully functional, comes with a wife even!!) The visuals are pretty decent, often reminiscent of the old strategy games in the beginning but building up pace as you move along. User interactivity and gameplay is enhanced by random positioning of game elements. The game engine comes up with an entirely different theme every time, so there is no monotony.

Sounds easy does it not? But it isn’t that easy when you play it. The game’s progress is halted at various intervals by encounters with Darkdeath and the end result is inevitably your death – this means you are once again banished to Bizarro earth. The game is based upon a turn based algorithm. So every move you make, will also give enemies on the screen, a turn to make theirs. At the end of each level, your level is added up with the number of levels you gained. Dungeons imply boss fights and puzzles – you need to solve puzzles to get to the end of the dungeon where you’ll meet the boss. You may also end up finding the treasure room or the enemy headquarters as you progress through every dungeon. Now to sum it all up: Infinite combinations of weapons and body parts + random dungeons and traps + NIS trademark humor = Fun for hours together. Priced at 65 dollars, it is well worth the amount of money that you play. The game is easily one of the most popular games around, with its characteristic humor and intriguing gameplay. Z.H.P is a terrific turn based strategy RPG packed with an excellent re-playable mode; a must-own for the PSP.

The Ys series of role playing games is one of the most challenging games one could ever play on a PSP. It has an intriguing storyline, a gripping sequence of events and enthralling music, all combined together give this game a unique look and feel. I simply loved the gaming experience and am all gung-ho about it. It simply was brilliant and it was an enchanting journey. Developed by Nihon Falcom for Microsoft Windows, the game was released in 2005 for the PC. Earlier this year, the PSP edition of the game was released. The English version however was released in November throughout North America and the game is excellent, both in terms of gameplay as well as in terms of its storyline. The game, as I said before, is captivating. The third edition in the Ys saga, the gameplay is nice, its action sequences wonderful and what’s more the game’s storyline has been strengthened. There are no fillers and the narrative is not prolonged. The game is in fact a remake of the previously released Ys III : Wanders of Ys. The game sees a new style of rendition, having discarded the original adaptation’s side scrolling style.

The game kicks off with the introduction of the two principle characters in the game namely, Adol and Dogi. The cut scenes here take over, as we see Adol and Dogi making their way into the town of Redmont. We see Dogi taking stock of life, reminiscing about his past, the care free days of yore only to be interrupted by a savage howl. This immediately cuts into an action sequence and the two chief characters quickly dive into a fight with the wolves to save Elena. Elena notifies Adol about the monsters that wreck havoc in the town and of Count McGuire’s evil rule. Added to this is the fact that Elena’s brother, Chester, is missing. The journey continues into redmont and the game actually begins to take shape. In this version of the game, the game plan is to spoil the evil designs of wicked people, masquerading and threatening the locals of the town. It is upto you, the main player to stop them. The game is action focused, and you will be enthralled by the various magical forces that act against you and accost you frequently. Action is something very innate in this game and this has been the major focal point throughout. The game is entertaining because of the fact that the narrative is interspersed with action sequences that really keep the player engrossed. The main functional aspect of the game is its new and improved attack system. It is fast and racy and is fun to learn.

The challenge here is to keep up with the pace of the game, making your moves swift, thereby countering the enemy. Melee attacks are easy to make. Elementary spells are at the player’s disposal once he/she collects special bracelets from within the game. Combining melee attacks is a challenge and needs to be mastered although the combinations are pretty easy to understand. The combo play needs to be swift in order to gain maximum power, thereby inflicting most damage. The makers of the game also have ensured that the battle is not repetitive and boring and rather have introduced elements that make the game fun to play. For instance, when you are fighting monsters, you need a measured sense of defense and attack, and attacking at the right moment reaps rewards. As the monster’s defense is thwarted slowly but surely, it “drops” certain collectibles – herbal pills, pick-up combo attacks, speed move pick-me-ups etc which when collected, increase the strength of the player temporarily and prove to be an added bonus whilst fighting against the baddies. The gameplay apart from the action sequences and the fights is intriguing in the traditional sense. The game designers have developed a sand box kind of an environment, with players having free movement throughout the game. One can make use of this feature in the game to explore the city, stumbling across a few dungeons in the process which can be explored – you will of course encounter baddies in the process but it is rewarding when you quell them to complete the conquest. Puzzles can also be found along the way, when you are exploring the city. A strong mention needs to be made about the save points, upon defeat, the user is given the option to fight again and has also got the option of going back to previous save points, where you can revise your strategy and come back stronger.

Weapon upgrades and additional bonus upgrades are also available in the game. You can upgrade weapons by collecting elements like raval, a rare ore which can be found after a bit of intuitive exploration. Since it has been remade, the developers have ensured that it has the old look and feel as well, giving vibrant, fully descriptive 3D graphics a classical 2D look and feel, making one go back to fond memories of the earlier version. The soundtrack and background music is mind-blowing, provided by Yukihiro Jindo is memorable and melodious. The pacing was appropriate and the storyline sequences very orderly. The packages were wrapped up very nicely, thus adding to its charm. I have enjoyed playing the game many times over and never for a moment go t distracted or bored. Moreover, I was able to relate to the story and proceed naturally in the light of the various developments in the story and directions and remedial actions suited to a particular lot in the development of the story. What more can I say, the game is splendid. All said and done, it was a wonderful experience.

Many great series started in the late 80’s and one of those series was Phantasy Star. Phantasy Star is a role-playing game that has been developed and published by Sega in 1987. As for the series, it has debuted in 1987 on Sega Master System and during the years, it has got many sequels and spin-off on all sorts of different consoles. One of the major spin-offs is the Phantasy Star Universe that takes the game to space and distant future. As for the universe series, we already got three games from it, and now, we’re getting a fourth one. Phatasy Star Universe has been available on several consoles and PlayStation Portable soon got games from Phantasy Star Universe franchise as well. We already got one Phantasy Star game on PSP called Phantasy Star Portable that was released in 2008. Phantasy Star Portable introduced co-op multiplayer for four players and it was well accepted among the audience. In fact, Phantasy Star Portable was the 14th best-selling game in Japan in 2008. After the success of Phantasy Star Portable, a sequel was announced exclusively for the PSP, and that way we got Phantasy Star Portable 2.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 is developed by Alfa System, the same developer that made previous Phantasy Star game for PSP, and it is being published by Sega. Plot takes place three years after the events of Phantasy Star Universe. All four races have united and they have defeated the SEED, but now there’s another threat in the universe. It seems that resources in Gurhal are diminishing and therefore Gurhalians are migrating to outer space. In Phantasy Star Portable 2, you play as a member of private military group that is known as the “Little Wing” on and you start on Clad 6. At the beginning of the game, you need to create your character. Just like in many other games, you create your character by choosing facial features, gender, body type, and of course voice. After you’ve created your character, you need to choose your class. The class you choose in singleplayer will be available in multiplayer so you won’t have to worry about that. In addition, you can transfer your character from Phantasy Star Portable into Phantasy Star Portable 2 without any problems. We should mention that you won’t be able to transfer all the data from your old character. Instead, you can only transfer character’s name and physical appearance. You will probably be disappointed by the fact that you won’t be able to transfer your level nor your items, but if you choose to transfer your character, you’ll get a photon saber that is named “Exam”, and one of the four armor types depending on your class. In addition, if you transfer you character from Phantasy Star Portable, some NPCs will mention that your character was a former GUARDIAN, and that is a nice detail to the storyline. Besides you, you’ll meet other characters such as 16-year-old human girl Emilia Percival. Emilia Percival is your partner and she doesn’t talk too much about her past. Besides Emilia, there’s Kraz Müller, 34-year-old Beastman, and he’s the leader of Little Wing and Emilia’s guardian. There’s Yuto Yun Yunkath, a 15-year-old Newman, and he’s a close friend of Emilia. There are some characters from previous games, and one of them is Lumia Waber, 17-year-old girl. She is a younger sister of famed GUARDIAN and hero, Ethan Waber, and she has appeared in Phantasy Star Portable as a 13-year-old. You’ll get a chance to meet Ursula Rollan, 32-year-old Newman female, and interesting thing about her is that she has known Kraz and Emilia from before. Besides that, she is special because her favorite weapon is the whip. There’s Chelsea, a cheerful receptionist, and she is also a close friend of Emilia. Besides that, Chelsea used to be a soldier before she became a receptionist. There are some spooky characters as well, and one of those characters is Mika. She is invisible, and only people that can see her are you, Emilia, Yuto and Shizuru. As for Shizuru, he’s a mysterious 20-year-old man, and it seems that he was possessed by Sun God. Shizuru Shu manages to reject the Sun God, and joins Mika in order to defeat him.

As for the gameplay, you’ll spend most of your time fighting through dungeons and collecting new equipment. There are several types of weapons available in Phantasy Star Portable 2 such as sabers, whips, sniper rifles, and you’ll have a lot of fun while trying to find them all. We should mention that action pallet from first game is present and thanks to it, you’ll easily switch between items during the combat. Players can perform basic attacks with the Square button and photon attacks with the Triangle button and deal more damage that way, but if you want to cause some serious damage, you should try to time several basic attacks into a combo. Of course, you can combine basic combo attacks with photon special attacks in order to get some devastating combos. As for the camera, it works pretty well in this game, since you can lock onto your target with a shoulder button. However, camera can give you some problems if you’re fighting against fast enemies because you’ll need to adjust it constantly. On the other hand, combat is fast and intense with a lot of detail, and it’s generally interesting. We should also mention that AI of your teammates works well, but you probably shouldn’t rely on them too much, because they can make mistakes from time to time. Anyway, you’ll get the best experience from Phantasy Star Portable 2 if you play it online with your friends, since AI of your teammates isn’t always working that well. As for the graphics, Phantasy Star Portable 2 looks decent, but it’s not the best looking game on the PSP. Some textures have low detail and some of them might look outdated, but overall, graphics is okay.

So what can we say about Phantasy Star Portable 2? If you’re into online action RPGs, Phantasy Star Portable 2 might be the right game for you. Tons of weapons, attractive special moves and intense combat combined with online multiplayer is always a good solution.

I love playing games and I am a hardcore gamer. I have had the opportunity to play and witness many beautiful computer games. These games have kept me engaged and have entertained me, enriching my sense of imagination as I indulge myself in playing the game by its storyline. With the advent of games that allowed role play, my interest in such games rose sharply. One of the earliest interactive games that I saw and developed a penchant was the Kingdom Hearts. At that point of time, I was not bothered as to who made them and I made a mental note as soon as I saw the cover and attractive picture along with the Kingdom Hearts inscription that I decided to wrap it up at the next opportunity and I devoured playing the game throughout the day, the moment I set sights on the game and purchased it. The game had cast a magic spell on me. The game is brilliant. Truly a masterpiece, one of the best games ever made for the PSP. It is riveting, fast paced and is astonishingly wonderful.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep is a real eye opener. This version pivots around Terra, Ventus and Aqua, and their efforts to trace Master Xehanort. Action and role playing keeps one engrossed. One can engage himself in real time physical attacks and battle with the enemies, disappear in a jiffy as in a magic, and summon characters as and when the need arises. Behavior gets altered to suit the end objectives. A journal available in the main menu allows one to keep track of the progressive events that take place in the story, along with their characters and their locations. It was I who maintained the journal while playing the birth by sleep version, and it was challenging too. The game allows you to rise up in the various hierarchic levels, as you progress and subdue your enemies, one by one. You start possessing new abilities and skills as your level increases in the chain with experience. Although it was available in 2D only in the handheld version, it gained children’s popularity. Each Disney character lived in a different world and there was no overlap. The duration of time for which the main Disney characters prevailed and guided the player in his chosen path, also varied from one scenario to the next and also depended on the path chosen. Many features are left open ended to provide room for reasoning, speculation and linkages to the next phase of the game-plan to maintain continuity. Speculation tends to leave the game open so that the individuals would want to renew their association with the game even when it has become old and replaced.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is the sixth version in the series, developed for the Play Station Portable series by Square Enix. The game uses a thoroughly revised battle system environment with a new command board, command console and additional dimension links added to make it worthwhile. The game is set to have taken place 10 years earlier. The theme consists of locating Master Xehanort and safeguarding the various worlds thrown open from the evil minded ‘Universed.’ The command system, allowing higher purchase and power levels as one moves up the ladder, is a welcome addition. The command board, that becomes visible when a particular world is won over, is unique and different in every world on display. It allows characters in the FirstLock mode to cast spells in the person mode, making magical appearances and disappearances.
The dimension linkage allows one to garner the powers vested in their allies to be used to perform certain skills or action that a situation demands, to overcome enemies. However, the three plots share the same story, although in a different vein.

What I like about this game is its multiplayer capacity. Upto six players can play at the same time. Greater teamplay has been an action item which has been addressed in the game. People can actually co-operate and compete with one another, with even more freedom in this version of the game. Here again you can ally, collaborate, remain separate or compete. Dwarf Woodlands and Enchanted Dominion are very impressive locations to play in. The heart and heartless theme overawed me. I could somehow relate to the bodies versus nobodies action adventures. The fights and cameos enthralled me and I was in awe, the game is amazing. It was challenging to play the game on the PSP, and I felt that with its extensive controls, luring gameplay and sound effects. In fact, it actually opened my mind to the various possibilities that existed to explore even on a very small display screen. You could begin from where you left or start fresh again. The game’s AI is very good. Every time I shifted my pattern, the game also would change course challenging my every move. Altogether, it is rendered beautifully, the visuals are pleasing to the eye, the effects are spectacular, the experience is thrilling, the music is touching and engaging the mind, and the sequences are well laid out and altogether enjoyable. So what more can I say about the game, its completely out of this world.

Japanese role-playing games are quite popular nowadays but when you look at their history, you can see that they were popular back in the 80’s as well. Following the success of Final Fantasy series, many developers released their RPGs in 80’s and that way they have started their own series that are still present on the market. You might not know but many games that we see today, especially RPGs, have started in the 80’s and the same story goes for the Ys series. Ys is another JRPG (Japanese role-playing game) and the first installment of the series was released in the 1987 by Falcom and over the years series has got many sequels on various platforms. Now, time has come to see Ys for the PlayStation Portable and that way we got Ys Seven.

Story of Ys Seven follows Adol Christin, the main character from the game series, and his friend Dogi in Capital of Altago. Adol and Dogi are thrown into the jail at the beginning of the game but soon after that the King itself orders them to go and investigate the mysterious earthquakes that have occurred recently. Story is cliche, and Adal and Dogi will have to fight against the great evil once again.

As for the gameplay, you’ll lead three characters at the time and you’ll be able to switch between them whenever you want. You can control only one character at the time, and the AI will control the other two and surprisingly AI does a great job with it. As for the combat, we already mentioned that this is an action-based RPG so there are no combat turns and like in other RPGs. Everything happens in real time and everything is fast and intense so there’s a lot of combat, blocking and dodging in Ys Seven. Each character has base attack that can be charged by holding a button, few special attacks that you get while using specific weapons, and a super attack that can be unleashed when gauge is full. As for special attacks, you have a special meter that is filled each time when you kill an enemy and interesting thing is that you can learn a special attack if you use a specific weapon long enough so you’ll be able to use it without that weapon. Interesting thing is that enemies drop all sorts of things that can be used for crafting and that way you can craft all sorts of items such as armor, weapons, healing items and similar. As we mentioned before, it’s crucial to switch between characters in Ys Seven because each character can use different types of weapons that are effective against different enemies. As for the enemies, Ys Seven offers wide range of enemies throughout the game and the special treat of the game are the bosses. Bosses are really challenging and it will take you some time to figure out a pattern in order to beat them. Interesting thing with bosses is that they will sometimes surprise you with sudden moves so it might become almost impossible to beat them. This can be frustrating at the times because when you think that you’ve figured out a way to beat the boss he’ll hit you hard with an unexpected move. Another flaw with Ys Seven is that you’ll need to complete some stages all over again, but luckily, the layout of the stages will change. However, even with the different layout, stages feel repetitive in a way.

As for the sound and graphics, they look decent. Although there are no voices in this game, Ys Seven offers amazing soundtrack, but unfortunately, we cannot say the same thing for graphics. Graphics is decent but it seems too flashy at the times so you might even lose your character sometimes in the combat due to all the flashy combat moves. They don’t look spectacular and they almost feel like an distraction that makes your game a bit harder. On the other hand, bosses and repetitive stages are another flaw of the Ys Seven, but despite that, Ys Seven provides interesting, real time and intense combat that is not a common thing in JRPGs. Besides that, there’s an interesting skill system and crafting that will keep you occupied for a while. Therefore, if you’re a fan of JRPG make sure that you check Ys Seven.

It’s seems that PlayStation Portable is quite a popular platform for JRPGs. If you don’t know JRPG stands for Japanese Role Play Game and it’s a entire new genre of RPGs that has been inspired by Final Fantasy series. During the years, we’ve seen many JRPGs on the PlayStation Portable and now we got a new RPG that comes from Atlus. Atlus is famous for its Megami Tensei series and the latest RPG from this developer is Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable. As for the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 it has already been released on PlayStation 2 a while ago and now it’s finally the time to see the PlayStation Portable version, so let’s check out what Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable for PlayStation Portable has to offer.

In Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable you’re a high school student in modern Japan and soon after you arrive to your new high school you discover that this is not an ordinary school. When the “Dark Hour” occurs all people from your town are turned into coffins and strange tower appears during this “Dark Hour” that is filled with monsters known as Shadows. As you probably guessed it, your quest here is gather your high school friends and enter this strange tower during the “Dark Hour” and defeat the Shadows. Of course, high school students are not alone against the Shadows because they can summon powerful beings known as Personas to help them out. Interesting thing is that Personas are character personalities and as character builds stronger social relationships in school the more powerful his Persona gets. Interesting thing in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable is that you have a leading female character as well and that you can make all sorts of unique social links with her as well. Social links are side stories and by completing them you’ll establish new friendships or maybe even fall in love and make your Persona stronger that way. As you see, there are two parts of the game: the battling stage that happens during the “Dark Hour” and day stage that takes place in the high school. At school you need to attend classes, meet new friends and join clubs so it’s like a simulation game during the day. There are many decisions in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable and all of them will influence your charm, academics and courage stats and it will change the way how the world sees you. In order to make your Persona stronger you’ll need to spend a lot of time with your friends so make sure that you find time for them as well.

There are some new things in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable and as I mention before first one is the female protagonist that will give you a whole new look at the story. Besides new female protagonist there are new difficulty settings but the biggest improvement is the ability to take control over your friends during the combat. As you might remember, on the PlayStation 2 you weren’t able to do that and often your teammates wouldn’t heal you and that was the main source of frustration in PS 2 version. No more will have to rely on poor AI to make choices in battles because now you can make them all on your own and it’s the great improvement that will make your battles easier and simpler than before.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable is a great game but it has its flaws and the first one is the absence of the animated cutscenes that we loved in previous games. Instead of cutscenes we got screenshots and voiceovers but it just doesn’t feel the same. Besides that, there’s no free roaming in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable. You can still choose where you want to go, but you won’t be able to walk, instead you’ll just have to move your cursor to the interactive objects on the screen. This might make the game faster but it’s still a flaw in my opinion. Another problem with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable is that battles and dungeons can get a bit repetitive and you might easily get bored with them, but despite that this game provides great complexity and interesting story that makes Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable one great game.

Sports games have always been popular on PlayStation Portable and we’ve seen many sports games on this console, but this time there’s something for the fans of tennis. Although this game isn’t a tennis simulation it will provide you with hours of fun. Of course, I’m talking about Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip. If you don’t know we’ve already seen Hot Shots Tennis on PlayStation 2 and it’s the spin-off of the famous Hot Shots Golf Series. Now after the PlayStation 2 version of Hot Shots Tennis we got a PlayStation Portable version that is called Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip, so let’s see what this version has to offer to the fans of the series.

If you don’t know Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is not a series tennis simulation but it’s interesting and a fun game that will keep you occupied for hours. The best thing about Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is that it’s simple and that you’ll be able to master its controls in a few minutes. Controls are simple and all that you have to do is to move your character towards the ball and when ball is within your range you need to press certain face button for different type of shot. Speaking of shots there are several shots that you can perform such as lob, slice and topspin shot. On the other hand, serving is simple as well and all that you need to do in order to serve a ball is to press a certain button to toss the ball and press another button again to hit it. As I said before, it’s simple as it can get and it will take you few minutes to learn most of the moves in this game. Of course, those are just the basics and if you want to become a pro you’ll have to work on your timing and angles. Speaking of timing you’ll know that you’ve hit a ball too early or too late with a certain image next to your head. If you hit the ball too soon you’ll get a rabbit picture and if you hit it too late you’ll get a turtle picture, and if you manage to get your timing right and hit the ball at the right time you’ll get a note next to your head. As you see, there’s a certain complexity in this game and if you want to become a pro you’ll have to work on your timing.

One thing that makes this game amazing is the level of customization that it has. If you play the Story Mode you’ll get access to new accessories such as clothes and hair, but you’ll also get new moves and rackets by defeating other people in Story Mode. Speaking of Story Mode it includes open world in which you need to travel and get members for you tennis team. Of course getting the members for your team isn’t always easy so you’ll have to do certain tasks before you get a chance to challenge them. Don’t worry, these tasks include tennis mostly on several different courts. There are many courts available in a game and you can discover them all by challenging all players that you meet. By challenging other players you’ll unlock special accessories, courts and characters as well so there’s a good reason to go back to those previous zones that you’ve already cleared. As for the members of your team, each has its stats and loyalty meter that increases if you play as that character. The more loyalty you have from certain members more unique perks you’ll unlock for those characters. In addition, more loyalty means more stats boosts so you should really work on those as much as you can.

As for the multiplayer game uses ad-hoc mode that has support for four players. This means that you can play double matches with your friends in multiplayer and in story mode. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t support online mode so you’re limited only to the ad-hoc.

Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is a great tennis game, it has simple but great looking cartoony graphics and a lot of customization options. Sound is great and controls are easy to learn and master. Only problem with this game might be the lack of online multiplayer and Story Mode can get boring from time to time especially if you’re not a fan of tennis. If you’re not a fan of tennis you’ll probably be easily bored with Story Mode but if you enjoy simple game of tennis make sure that you check this great game out.

We have seen many interesting games for the PlayStation Portable but I think that nothing can compare to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Metal Gear series needs no introduction so it’s enough to say that Metal Gear is a franchise that has invented the stealth genre on all gaming platforms. Metal Gear franchise is created by Hideo Kojima and it’s one of the best selling gaming franchises from Konami. First Metal Gear was released in 1987 but it has achieved its greatest success on PlayStation in 1998. Since then we have seen several Metal Gear Solid games and now here comes the latest installment of Metal Gear Solid series exclusively for the PlayStation Portable.

As you know, we’ve already seen several Metal Gear Solid games for the PlayStation Portable so let’s see what the latest Metal Gear Solid game has to offer. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker follows the same gameplay mechanics as the previous Metal Gear game for the PSP, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. In order to understand the story of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker you need to understand the story behind Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. I’ll just say that in Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake (also known as the Big Boss) has betrayed his mentor and in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops story is about Snake and his rouge army called FOX. In Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker story takes place in Costa Rica, four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

Just like previous games, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a stealth game that is using third person camera. This means that you need to navigate Snake through missions without being seen or heard. Speaking of stealth in this game, Snake can easily neutralize its opponents with close quarter combat moves. Interesting thing is that close quarter combat moves are easier to perform than before simply by holding the right shoulder button. That way you can grab your opponent in a sleeper hold, interrogate him, or throw him at wall or at other opponents. Interesting thing about close quarter combat moves is that you can perform several of them with a timed button press and disarm several enemies that way. Just like in the Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops you can capture enemies and add them to your own army, but unlike in the previous game entire process is much simpler and faster. In previous game you had to knock the enemy out and carry it to the truck in order to capture him but now it’s a lot easier. All that you have to do is to knock the enemy out and attach him to a balloon so that the helicopter can pick him up. Every captured enemy can be assigned to a different division of your army such as combat, development and similar. Each captured enemy will help you to get new weapons, items and upgrades or it will aid you in combat so capturing enemies is crucial. You can send captured enemies to missions or order them to develop new weapons or even order them to develop your own Metal Gear.

Interesting thing is that each mission is a single task and before each mission you can select and change your equipment. Speaking of missions before each mission you’ll see a cutscene that will explain the part of the plot. As for the cutscenes, they look like comics and they are simply amazing. Konami did an amazing job with cutscenes and even if they are on handheld device such is PlayStation Portable they look breathtaking.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker offers interesting story but besides deep story there are 100 additional missions as well. As for the multiplayer, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker offers interesting co-op mode that is available only via ad-hoc in which you can play the story mode or any of 100 additional missions with your friends.

What can we say about Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker? Well it’s without the doubt one of the best games for the PSP. Everything in this game is awesome: long and interesting story, graphics, sound and atmosphere. Everything is optimized for PSP and it looks simply amazing, and it is without the doubt the best Metal Gear game that you’ll find on handheld device so make sure that you don’t miss this great game.

All fans of rock are surely familiar with the game that is called Guitar Hero that allows you to become leading guitarist of a rising rock band and play all your favorite songs. Guitar Hero was a revolutionary game that has set the standards for all the future games that will involve rock bands. Guitar Hero was on the throne for so long as the best rock band game, but Electronic Arts and MTV Games have decided to release its own rock band game and that way Rock Band was born. Unlike Rock Band that is available on several consoles, Rock Band: Unplugged is PSP exclusive.

If you ever played any other rhythm game you’ll feel like you’re at home. Gameplay consist of “falling gems” that you must hit in the right moment to play the note. If you hit several notes correctly you can even enter the multiply mode that will increase of each block that you hit. Gameplay is really dynamic and exciting and it takes some practices before you can become good at it. Interesting thing in this game is that you don’t play a single instrument like in other versions, instead you have four different lines through which you will have to switch in order to complete the song. So this means that you’re responsible for the drums, bass, vocals and guitar all by yourself. Although this might seem like a hard task it’s not and it’s actually quite fun because you’ll have to constantly switch from one instrument to another. If you switch from guitar to drums for example drum will keep on playing on its own for a while but you must go back to it before the sound of the drum in your song fades. In order to play the instruments you’ll have to use left and up button on directional pad and triangle and circle button. Controls have been arranged perfectly and it will be easy for you to handle. As for switching tracks, you use shoulder buttons to do that, so it’s really easy to get used to controls and to master them. Interesting thing is a multiplier that can give you more points. However, if you’re good enough while in multiplier it will fill your energy meter that you can use to activate overdrive with the X button. Overdrive will double your multiply so if you had 5x multiply you will have x10 when you activate overdrive. Hover, double multiply works only if you have all of your members on the stage, but if any member has dropped out, you can get him back with the Overdrive. Overdrive works great and it’s the only way to get 5-star performance. Gameplay works great and it’s quite dynamic since you have to switch between tracks so it’s exciting and a lot of fun.

Of course, heart of the game is a World Tour mode where you create your own band, name it, pick a logo and create your band members. As you progress you’ll switch from playing at bars to stages and you’ll get a lot of new things such as tour bus instead of van. You’ll go from city to city and play and if you’ve played Rock Band before you’ll feel quite familiar with it. Here’s the first flaw of the game, Rock Band: Unplugged is so much like Rock Band 2. Everything is similar so if you’ve already played Rock Band 2, you might get bored with Rock Band: Unplugged easily.

As for the sound, sound is great in this game and you have big variety of songs available. There are 41 songs available but you can download more for a certain price if you want. As for the graphics, it looks good, colors look live but there are no custom animations for your band members like on other consoles, so they won’t act accordingly to your moves, instead they will repeat the same pattern over and over, and that might look bit boring after a while.

As for other modes, there are World Tour, Survival and Warmup Mode. Survival is a lot harder than a standard mode and it’s only for the hardcore fans of the Rock Band. On other hand Warmup mode allows you to play only in one track without the need to switch between them, so it’s pretty good for training.

Overall, Rock Band: Unplugged is a good game, it’s fun , it’s dynamic but it has no multiplayer. So without a multiplayer you’ll be bored when you complete the World Tour mode. In my opinion, Rock Band: Unplugged is great and fun experience until you beat the World Tour mode, after that it just gets boring.
