Over the years we have seen many great games from Konami so it’s no surprise that Konami is leading Japanese game developer. As you know, Konami is a creator of many amazing gaming series such as Metal Gear, Castlevania, Contra, Silent Hill and of course Pro Evolution Soccer series. Speaking of Pro Evolution Soccer series it’s a main competitor of EA’s FIFA series. As you know first FIFA game was released in 1993 while the first Pro Evolution Soccer game was released in 2001. On the other hand, we have seen another game series that has been released from Konami in the 90’s and that was International Superstar Soccer. But as we all know International Superstar Soccer has been entirely replaced by Pro Evolution Soccer series. As for the Pro Evolution series, we have seen it on several platforms such as PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. As for the latest installment of the series Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, it’s available for all the major platforms and for PlayStation Portable as well.

I’ll have to mention that PSP version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 resembles to the PlayStation 2 version and that PSP version is a lot quicker than PS3 and Xbox 360 version. If you decide to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 on PSP you’ll get the same look and feel of the pervious Pro Evolution games that you’ve played on PS2. Interesting thing about PSP version is there aren’t many improvements and if you’ve played Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 for example you’ll only notice that the teams have been changed in this installment. Although there’s a little difference between those two games I can’t say that Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is a bad game. Everything that you remember from previous games is here: passes are strong and quick but computer players can easily intercept them and as for the shots, they are realistic just like in any other Pro Evolution Soccer game. Although each player on the field feels different you’ll notice that response time is different on the PSP version and that animations are looking stiff, but again that doesn’t mean that Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 doesn’t provide you with hours of fun.

Although Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 for PlayStation Portable feels like a reduced version of PlayStation 2 version it’s still able to offer us several different gaming modes. There has been a word that the new Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 for PSP won’t have Master League mode included. As you know, Master League is the heart of the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise and it allows you to take the leadership over your favorite team and guide it through all sorts of competitions. You can even buy and sell new players and devote to management of your team completely. It’s no wonder that Master League mode is so popular and luckily developers have included it in this version as well. Although Master League isn’t advanced like on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions it’s still able to provide you hours of fun. Master League is similar to the one from the PlayStation 2 version and you can even transfer data from the PS2 Master League to your PSP. Some players are complaining because you’re not able to do that with the PS3 version as well but since PSP and PS3 version have so much differences and since Master League works so differently on PSP it’s no wonder that this option has been left out. Besides Master League mode there’s Champions League ad-hoc mode and ad-hoc legends mode that allows you to create teams and exchange them with other players. Besides that there are all sorts of other leagues and tournaments available as well that we’ve already seen in the previous Pro Evolution Soccer games.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 has a lot to offer but there are some things that I didn’t like. For instance, many teams are still unlicensed but I’m hoping that Konami will fix this one day. Second flaw is that there’s only one stadium to play although you can select two different turf types to play, one stadium isn’t enough. Sound is okay in this game and luckily, if you ever get bored with game music you can import your own. Speaking of sound there isn’t any commentary which can be a good thing since many players were annoyed by that, but on the other hand some player might miss that feature. Graphics is good but animations are stiff at the times. Overall, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 for PSP is a great football game and if you can overlook its flaws you’ll get a great gaming experience.
